I had expected Clinton to delay releasing her tax returns until after the primaries were over, and even then to perhaps enter into a quiet understanding with McCain that they would agree not to make disclosure an issue. But she finally came through:
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and former President Bill Clinton reported more than $109 million in gross income since 2000, the Clinton presidential campaign announced this afternoon. It's not bad work, if you can get it....
Of that amount, the Clintons have more than $57 million in after-tax earnings and paid more than $33 million in federal taxes, the campaign said. It released tax returns from 2000 to 2006 and highlights for 2007.

Both Clintons have done well as authors. During the years, former President Clinton earned more than $29 million for his books and Sen. Hillary Clinton earned more than $10 million.
Bill Clinton earned more than $51 million from speeches, the campaign said.
