No Child Gets Ahead?

NewsHour questions whether the "No Child Left Behind Act" is resulting in a nationwide trend to defund programs for gifted education. (Programs that are typically woefully underfunded to begin with.)

  1. Grr. You *know* what I think of No Child Left Behind Median Test Scores.

If you don't, it's that schools must put all of their effort toward making sure they meet state and federal "goals". Which is wonderful from the point of view of students who might be "left behind." It is not so wonderful when it consumes resources to the point that there is nothing left for students who are average or better.

It is because of this mandate, and the state versions thereof, that my kids do not attend our neighborhood public school.
