According to the Financial Times, CBS has been "forced" to cancel its plans to air a miniseries on the Reagans, by a "wave of Reagan nostalgia, Republican outrage and American sympathy for an ailing president". In fairness to the Republicans, they would probably vociferously object to any drama which depicted a past or present President inaccurately, particularly one that might air on CBS or Showtime.
