Porn as a Gateway to... What?

I am amazed that nonsense like this is presented as, well, gospel:
CP: So when did you really know that [your husband's "pornography addiction"] was a serious problem you needed to seek help for?

Rohr: When he told me has was starting to look at it at work, I knew it was more of a problem than I first realized. It never stays pornography. It's a progressive sin that always leads to death – death of a family, death of a marriage.

A pornography addiction progresses from catalogs and soft core pornography to hard core pornography, which leads to child pornography. Child porn then progresses to massage parlors, prostitutes, affairs.
Does anybody care to break it to the poor lady that if her husband is attracted to child pornography, it's not because he was drawn to it by adult porn?

  1. I doubt she would listen. It's the narrative of progressive sin; nobody ever *stops* at the little stuff. Set a foot slightly off the path and you're sliding straight down the road to Hell. I suppose it's how they justify living in terror of "sin" - it's not simply that you screwed up, it's that you're inexorably going to wind up in the pit (on many levels).

  2. I can't help but sense, though, that she's describing her personal experience.
